Destination Space

Children’s Museum of Stockton

This exhibition encourages visitors to reach for the stars! Inspired by astronaut José Hernández, who grew up in Stockton, the exhibition explores how astronauts live and work in space. Durable, open-ended interactives encourage children to use their bodies, their minds, and their imaginations.

Owner: Children’s Museum of Stockton

Designer: Weldon Exhibits

Opened 2021

From a recreated cupola, visitors can see a view of earth from the space station. Hands-on activities let visitors work in a science "glove box" and compare Earth's gravity with low-gravity space.

Using magnetic blocks, visitors can build the space station or lunar module of their imagination!

One wall of the gallery explores the work that astronauts do in space.

Visitors can dress up in astronaut gear and design their own mission badge.

Inside a space station gallery, visitors can explore how astronauts live, eat, and sleep in low gravity.
