Ford’s Theatre Center for Education & Leadership

Washington, DC

This permanent exhibition tells the story of Abraham Lincoln’s enduring and changing legacy. Features two floors of immersive environments, media, and artifacts plus a temporary gallery for exhibits about leadership.

Designer: Split Rock Studios

Owner: Ford’s Theatre Society

Visitors enter the exhibit in the immediate aftermath of Lincoln's assassination. Audio clips and graphics tell the story.

An interactive map traces the escape route that John Wilkes Booth took after he shot Lincoln.

A colorful display of artifacts and graphics shows how Abraham Lincoln's image continues to be used in pop culture.

A tower of books--actually aluminum replicas--stretches up three stories. These represent the sheer volume of scholarship that has been written about Abraham Lincoln. New titles are added periodically to keep it relevant.
